Job Summary:
The Power System Project Engineer is responsible for the technical execution and support of customer projects, with a focus on grid modelling, system configuration, commissioning and post-delivery maintenance. This role involves collaboration with customers and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery and long-term system performance. Activities are performed in cooperation with the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Project execution phase
-Grid model management: interact with customers to create, validate and maintain the electrical grid model throughout the project lifecycle
-System Commissioning:
- Configure software platform services to provide grid analytics based on real-time measurements
- Participate in hardware configuration (on site when required)
- Validate real-time measurements, investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and coordinate with internal experts or customers to resolve issues.
- Issue the commissioning report
-SCADA integration support: assist with SCADA system integration to ensure seamless data flow and system interoperability
Post-delivery phase
-Training & Knowledge Transfer: participate in customer training sessions to ensure effective system handover and user understanding
-System Maintenance: provide remote support to maintain our systems in operation by:
- Performing bug analysis and troubleshooting, involving developers where required
- Define and maintain SQL-based alerts to automatically monitor system performance and detect grid events, enabling fast identification of anomalies and improving overall platform reliability.
-Reporting & Documentation: issue technical reports to be delivered to customer, such as grid congestion reports, power quality reports
-Feedback & Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively provide feedback and lessons learned to product and sales teams
- Contribute to the improvement of tools, features, and customer proposals based on project experience
- Document tools and solutions for scaling of the project engineering team
In addition to his work on customer projects, the candidate could contribute to R&D activities, improvement of efficiency and performance of teams' processes and tools, performance of customer-studies, ...
Requirements:
- Master's degree in
electrical engineering
or equivalent. - Solid understanding of power system operation and analysis.
- Experience with
Python - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
- Willingness to learn and contribute across multiple project phases.
- Knowledge of
Distribution System State Estimation
is a strong plus. - Experience with grid modelling tools or network simulation environments is a plus (e.g., DIgSILENT PowerFactor, pandapower...).
- Knowledge of SQL is a plus
- Professional experience with a Distribution System Operator is a plus.
