Gas Systems and Worksite Supervision Technician (BE-EA-EC LD)
- Contract
At CERN , the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
Job DescriptionIntroduction
Join CERN's Beams Department , Experimental Areas Group , Engineering and Configuration Management Section as a Gas Systems & Worksite Supervision Technician, supporting and coordinating gas management activities across experimental areas. You will contribute to the maintenance, upgrade, and installation of gas infrastructures, ensuring reliable operations for the world's largest particle accelerator complex.
Functions
You will ensure the daily operation and maintenance of gas systems at CERN, providing site supervision and management for projects ranging from small dewar installations to site industrial piping, as well as:
- Supervise the onsite works for the projects of consolidation and extension of the existing gas network, including coordination with other activities such as civil engineering, transport and handling, cooling and ventilation, IT systems carried out by other groups at CERN.
- Ensure safety compliance of the activities in the worksites of the assigned projects, and that they are performed in respect of the applicable rules and requirements.
- Contribute to the preparation and the review of the design of the gas systems developed within the contractors and project teams.
- Technically coordinate and oversee the contractors performing operational works and deliveries related to gas supply on site, preparing and carrying out acceptance tests, checking contractual documentation, planning and checking and validating quality and quantities prior to payment.
- Organise and execute smaller works, from needs' definition, design, cost estimate, procurement up to onsite installation and handover to the operation and maintenance teams.
- Write reports and technical notes describing scope, status and progress of the gas works.
