Duties and Responsibilities

The internship is located within the United Nations Information Service (UNIS) at Geneva. The intern will work primaTTrily with the UNTV / ONU Info audio and video production team, with opportunities to contribute to the Press and External Relations Section (digital communication, social media and podcasts). The intern will report directly to the News Producer for French News. The intern will assist in the production of multimedia content for ONU Info, UNTV and UN Geneva public information platforms. Duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Editorial Research - Identify, research and propose newsworthy topics through UN agency websites, press releases, wires and social media. - Follow major humanitarian crises relevant to UN reporting (e.g., Sudan, Gaza, Ukraine, Haiti and under-reported crises in sub-Saharan Africa). 2. Audio and Video Production - Support producers with background research, identification of interviewees and preparation of interview material. - Conduct short supervised audio interviews and produce soundbites for inclusion in daily news products. - Assist in filming, editing and preparing video sequences for UNTV and ONU Info. - Participate in video editing as an assistant editor and contribute to production tasks as an assistant producer. - Liaise with UN Geneva social media focal points for content dissemination. 3. Coverage of UN Geneva Press Briefings - Attend the regular UN Geneva press briefings. - Edit news clips, compile shotlists and assist with transcripts, subtitles and storylines under tight deadlines. - Produce French-language video clips for UNIS Geneva and ONU Info platforms. 4. Additional Support Duties - Support the section by preparing research notes, presentations, and digital communication content including short social media videos or GIFs. - Assist in the research, drafting and editing of bulletins for UN news services. - Perform other tasks as required.

Qualifications/special Skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). No prior work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Please list any relevant trainings, skills and experiences which may be of help in your role as the UNTV intern. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in French is required, and working knowledge of English is desirable.
