Rate - includes covering of everything. If consultant needs to come to customer in Morges/Switzerland (60% of the time), he will need to pay for travel and hotel.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced OLVM Expert to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and ongoing management of scalable and highly available Oracle Linux KVM environments using the
Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager platform
. This role ensures the optimal performance, availability, and security of our virtualized infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Architecture:
  Create scalable and highly available OLVM environment concepts following best practices, including cluster design, networking, and storage considerations.
• Installation & Configuration:
  Install and configure OLVM clusters, including network setup, storage domain management (e.g., shared storage pools), and resource management.
• Virtual Machine Management:
  Manage the full life cycle of virtual machines (VMs) and their virtual devices on KVM hosts. Provision, manage, and monitor virtual instances and applications.
• Automation:
  Develop and implement automated processes for OLVM and Oracle Enterprise Linux VMs using scripting and configuration management tools.
• Monitoring & Operations:
  Implement and operate monitoring solutions (potentially integrating with Oracle Enterprise Manager) to ensure platform performance, availability, and security.
• High Availability & Optimization:
  Configure and maintain high-availability features to ensure uninterrupted operation.
• Troubleshooting & Support:
  Provide expert assistance to resolve incidents, troubleshoot issues related to the hypervisor, kernel (UEK), VDSM service, networks, and storage.
• Security & Compliance:
  Ensure compliance with Oracle licensing policies, specifically leveraging OLVM's hard-partitioning capabilities for software licensing. Apply security updates using tools like Oracle Ksplice for zero downtime patching.
• Documentation:
  Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures for the virtual environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience in designing and managing enterprise-grade virtualization platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) and the underlying KVM hypervisor technology.
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Linux, Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK), and related Oracle technologies.
• Strong understanding of networking (VLANs, bonding) and storage technologies within a virtualized environment.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., shell scripting, Ansible).
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Education/Certifications
