Team Lead - Storage Services

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time %)

Location: Zurich - Hybrid

We've partnered with a leading university in Zurich that's advancing its IT infrastructure. They are seeking an experienced Team Lead for Storage Services to oversee a team of specialists and help drive the evolution of their large-scale on-premises storage environment.

Your Role

You will lead the team responsible for delivering, operating, and enhancing enterprise storage services. Your work will shape the technological roadmap, ensure reliable and secure operations, and support strategic developments across the institution's broader infrastructure landscape. You'll play a central part in how critical research and administrative data is stored, managed, and protected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of storage engineers
  • Manage and improve services based on NAS, NFS, CIFS, S3, and WebDAV
  • Drive service architecture, design, and process optimisation
  • Ensure stable, secure, and scalable storage operations
  • Oversee budgeting, workforce planning, and procurement activities
  • Collaborate with infrastructure architects across networking and compute
  • Contribute to security, backup, recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and integration partners

Your Profile

  • Degree or qualification in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Proven leadership experience in small or mid-sized teams
  • Strong expertise in enterprise storage technologies (NFS, CIFS; S3/SAN beneficial)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Open-minded, adaptable, and comfortable driving change
  • Bonus: experience in finance, project management, or public-sector procurement
