**Our Mission**:
We are looking for a talented and experienced Synthetic Biology Engineer to join our Biology Team. You will play a pivotal role developing new molecular biology protocols and assays and translating them into highly automated workflows in our Foundry.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop protocols for the automation of molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA assembly (Gibson, Golden Gate, PCA etc), NGS (Illumina and Nanopore), protein expression (in vitro and recombinant) and assays (binding, activity, stability, solubility etc) using our high-throughput wet lab equipment.
- Develop novel assays for high throughput characterization of protein-protein interactions and enzymatic activity using state-of-the-art synthetic biology techniques
- Integrate novel assays and protocols into our Foundry in collaboration with the Software Team.
- Design and screen protein variant libraries and optimize them in collaboration with our ML Team.
**Qualifications**:
- BS, MS or PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Life Science Engineering, Chemical Biology, Chemistry or similar
- At least 2 years of hands-on lab work and experience with research and development in molecular biology and protein characterization.
- Comfortable with Python scripting and data analysis.
- Nice to have: prior experience using cell-free protein synthesis, protein-protein interaction or enzymatic activity assays
- You are highly motivated to work in a fast-moving startup; enjoy problem solving; and you’re able to learn efficiently while building new tech
