MAKE Automation, Sciences & Technology (MAKE AS&T) is the Global MAKE functional pillar of the J&J Consumer Health Global Value Chain (GVC) Organization. It is the technical and operational excellence backbone of the Consumer Health Supply Chain providing Technical Ownership and Executional Excellence, maximizing the synergy of product, process, and equipment.

The Global MAKE Operational Excellence leader owns the MAKE functional excellence Production Standards (PS) as well as the E2E Operating System (OS) Standards, including principles, practices, and processes. He/she leads a team of 3 Operational Excellence experts located in the Americas and APAC that drive consistent adoption of the standards across the network of internal and external Consumer manufacturing sites with the aim of continuously improving cost efficiency, reliability, and manufacturing robustness. Besides the global leadership the leader is responsible for building and maintaining the appropriate PS continuous improvement capabilities in EMEA, and aligning the deployment sequence of the PS diagnostics and Effectiveness Health Checks with the EMEA PS lead, ensuring capable and qualified resources can be leveraged and timely made available.

The Operational Excellence team also owns the SMART Operations process standard of identification and agile deployment of scalable MVPs through the integration of functional excellences (MAKE, Plan, Source, Deliver, and Quality), digital capabilities, and technological excellence. The leader is responsible for developing novel approaches to fast scaling of SMART Operations Minimal Viable Product (MVP) solutions across the global Network of Consumer Manufacturing sites. Specific to the EMEA region, he/she assists or leads SMART Operations solution prioritization, governance, and deployment, and accelerates cross-regional and cross-functional scaling of best-in-class high-value solutions, supported by EMEA SC Excellence & external partners (Kaizen Institute).

The global leader ensures that the regions have the capacity and capability to efficiently execute the improvement projects & deliver on the targeted benefits in line with the implementation plan, based on standard diagnostic processes. The incumbent also ensures the effectiveness of the Production/Operating System (PS/OS) across all sites in the global network by orchestrating Effectiveness Health Checks ensuring resources are capable, trained, and qualified, and addressing any gaps identified. The leader oversees that the standards are applied consistently across all regions through global governance. While the focus is on the internal network of sites, there is an increasing effort to bring external manufacturing partner sites to the same standard. Specific to EMEA, you will coach the desired leadership behaviors in the EMEA teams and provide a talent framework to support next-generation talent development for the EMEA and the global pipeline of PS leaders and change agents.

The Global MAKE Operational Excellence Leader is the Process Owner for Proven Practice deployment across the Manufacturing network, engaging the regional MAKE and MAKE Quality Production System leaders and making them accountable to drive the sharing and adoption of good practices. The position also plays a primary role in benchmarking the continuous improvement program with external companies.
