You will develop and implement an industry-leading policy agenda to create an optimal external environment that will directly contribute to the success of key Novartis Neuroscience therapeutic area assets. You will show deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical business model, healthcare systems, and the political, and economic environment to shape the external policy environment, address short-term and long-term risks and opportunities to successfully position the portfolio and ensure access to innovation with a strong focus on our priority assets (anchor brands and pipeline) in key the markets.
Together, we will position Novartis as a trusted partner by building strong relationships with external stakeholders relevant for our portfolio (e.g., academics, policy and advocacy groups, professional societies, etc. ) across the key priority market settings.
You will establish strong collaborations with colleagues across Novartis, (e.g., access, HEOR, communications, patient advocacy, and HSS) teams, represent the Novartis portfolio to external policy stakeholders and lead the management of portfolio specific issues and risks within the policy environment. You will serve as inhouse expert on policy changes that impact the portfolio and on business related strategies and relevant external affairs issues.
Key Responsibilities:

- Identify key policy priorities in alignment with the strategic plan for our Novartis portfolio.
- Develop and implement policy solutions and tools for the key brands in the priority global markets.
- Provide portfolio specific thought leadership and insights for GPA led engagements that support healthcare system and policy change.
- Represent GPA on cross-functional workstreams focused on preparing favorable policy conditions for priority pipeline assets in key markets.
- Partner and align with cross-functional partners (e.g., access, patient advocacy, communications, medical, HEOR, and HSS) to support implementation of the policy strategy for the Novartis portfolio.

**Role Requirements**

What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential Criteria
- Advanced degree in law, public health policy, health economics, political science or equivalent.
- Written and spoken fluency in English.
- Strong experience in policy or advocacy related roles, either in leading industry player or policy setting body such as government, IGOs, trade group, etc. with healthcare related roles, preferably focused on pharmaceutical policy.
- External orientation, with a strong external network and excellent interpersonal and partnering skills.
- Experience representing the pharmaceutical industry in policy environment, with track record of measurable business impact.
- Experience with designing and executing market shaping strategies across multiple geographies.
