**Junior Section Manager - Machine Learning (W/M)**:
**Your mission**:
The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project (BBP), a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain.

**Main duties and responsibilities include**:

- Lead the Machine Learning Section of the Blue Brain Project comprised of data scientists
- Coordinate, implement and manage third-party projects in machine learning
- Define the scientific and technical roadmap of the BBP's Machine Learning Section in accordance to the project's and division's objectives and roadmaps
- Coordinate, devise and oversee scientific and technical implementation of the BBP's machine learning roadmap and related activities within the context of the multiscale mouse brain
- Participate in the architecting and implementation of machine learning solutions
- Hire, coordinate and evaluate subordinate personnel in the Machine Learning Section
- Represent the BBP machine learning efforts in technical and scientific contexts
- Support other sections on the topic of machine learning and adoption of machine learning technology
- Participate in the writing of articles and other documents related to the research activities
- Participate to group meetings

**Your profile**:
**Essential skills and experience required**:

- Python programming language.
- UNIX operating system.
- Machine Learning and Deep Learning principles and methods.
- Statistical principles and methods.
- Python libraries for Data Science and Machine Learning (numpy, sklearn, pandas,...).
- A Python framework for Deep Learning (TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch).
- Great team player.
- Excellent presentation skills.

**Preferred**:

- Docker framework.
- SQL language.
- Software development life-cycle (software packaging, unit testing, continuous integration, debugging, documentation,...).

**Profile**:

- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a quantitative field - e.g. Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Strong personal motivation, interest in the field, and eager to learn.
