**Manager, Chemicals category (Base CHM Procurement)** J&J seeks a Category Manager, Global Base Chemicals, located in the Switzerland (Zug Location) offices of Johnson & Johnson (J&J). J&J’s develops and markets Medicines, Devices, and Consumer Products serving patients, healthcare professionals and consumers worldwide. The portfolio of products ranges from branded & generic regulated medicines, medical & surgical devices (all classes), eye-health & ophthalmic products, and consumer personal & self-care products. Chemicals are the core components of our products &/or are used as process materials / catalysts in the manufacture of our products / synthesis of our medicines. Our Enterprise Spend of Chemicals exceeds $1B and is a complex category of >2000 unique compounds / ingredients, >8000 specifications, and >9000 SKU’s / Codes as purchased from approximately 800 suppliers worldwide. The Enterprise spend comes in three broad clusters, 1) Base Chemicals, 2) Specialty Chemicals, and 3) APIs. Through our strategy of scale, choice and supply network optimization, the category aspires to drive all-aspect spend performance (reliability, managed risk, compliance, fair / improvable cost, sustainability, and innovation). While all the clusters of spend are exposed to commodities and supply market dynamics, Base Chemical is heavily impacted by Supply & Demand imbalances and commodity market volatility (including COVID related supply shortages). Early-stage ingredient & supply choices, scaled / standardized specifications (preventing / reducing complexity), dual sourcing (where / how possible), and strong understanding of commodity markets and inflation mitigation (hedging, identification of “best time to strike”, etc ) tend to be more impactful drivers of spend performance. Reporting to the Category Director, Base Chemicals, and part of the Enterprise Chemicals Category, the incumbent will own a spend of Oleochemicals ($200-250 MM) largely used in our Consumer Essential Health products. Coordinating with his / her peer Source Managers (Base, Specialty & APIs), he / she will: - Own of the current & future Basket of materials & footprint of suppliers of assigned sub-categories; supporting (dominantly) our SC/Network of Consumer Essential Health, Skin Health and Self Care products - Be accountable to drive spend performance from strategy-to-value capture; and own pipelines of initiatives and targets w.r.t performance in terms of value, reliability, compliance, complexity reduction & NPD support. - Generate (continuously), own, and drive the execution of the Sub-category’s pipeline of projects. - Own Global Supplier Relationship Management (GSRM) for specific suppliers through the category team(s), and manage supply agreements & awards, supply performance globally / regionally as appropriate (incl. issue resolution) - Partner with SC and Procurement teams on execution, projects, delivery, and supplier management - Demonstrate appropriate expertise in supply / supplier / market / industry dynamics impacting cost, supply, supplier & spend performance of assigned sub-categories, taking a predictive approach to cost, reliability, complexity, risk, and innovation. - Own assigned / allotted sub-category inputs to the MMF (Market Movement Forecast) process which will be supported with designated forecasting methodology, tools and analytics support. The incumbent will demonstrate and enhance skills in Category & Supplier Management, complexity reduction, and sourcing; and build deep expertise in Chemicals (and commodities), direct materials and strategic procurement within the end-2-end supply chain. **Major Duties & Responsibilities** Category Management & partnerships - 40% - Own (global scope) end-2-end strategy development and execution (from business needs to sustained value / spend performance) for assigned sub-categories of spend. Following on from strategies; develop, generate & own pipeline / road map of initiatives driving value including all related to complexity reduction (portfolio or supplier footprint). For Complexity Reduction, the role will partner with procurement, technical partners, and be supported by a designated PMO structure. For sub-categories more regionally dominant, support the Franchise Procurement organizations with key insights, intelligence and appropriate capabilities. - As GSRM, Own, develop, enhance relationships with designated / allotted suppliers, including co-owning (alongside R&D / Partner Enabled Innovation / Development), Joint Strategic Plans / agreements (JSPs) with certain (as allotted) S1 suppliers. - Ensure robust supplier management & supply performance management, including (where necessary) lead supply issue resolutions collaborating with procurement colleagues, regional MSM (Material Supply Management), RRT (Rapid Response Teams), and Technical / Quality partners. - Own (global) /Co-own (with regions / functions / partners) sub-category specific financial and s
