VP Translational Medicine

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Head of Translational Science to lead our translational sciences department. The Head of Translational Science will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of research strategies that cover the entire drug discovery and development process, including target identification, biomarker discovery, pre-clinical models, and IND enabling toxicology studies.

**Key responsibilities**
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the translational sciences department
- Develop and implement research strategies and plans to identify and validate gene therapy targets and biomarkers
- Lead pre-clinical development with the goal of moving programs from the bench into the clinic
- Identify and prioritize the most promising projects for further development
- Identify, manage and oversee relationships with external research collaborators and partners for pre-clinical development
- Work closely with the clinical development team to ensure a seamless transition of gene therapy projects into clinical trials

**Key requirements**
- Ph.D. in relevant field (Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or alike)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in translational sciences (preferably in gene therapy and/or rare diseases)
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead a team of scientists
- Experience working with Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) gene therapy vectors is a plus
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the regulatory requirements for gene therapy development
- Proven success in scientific innovation and problem-solving skills
- Resilient leader, able to quickly build up and mentoring a team
