We are looking for a talented Scientist who has expertise in Biocatalysis and experience in developing and improving both existing and new biochemical processes to realize novel and cost-effective biobased solutions. You will contribute to the development of enzyme discovery and characterization projects, as well as the design of enzyme screening programs for large scale biocatalytic processes, improving both existing processes and implementing new ones by tests at lab scale and supporting colleagues for scale-up to pilot and/or production. In this increasingly digital age, you are comfortable with, and have affinity for, the use of data handling approaches, data analysis methodology and advanced modelling and simulation techniques.

As a Scientist you will work in innovative, cross-functional project teams and contribute to solving some of the global challenges we face today. You are a natural communicator, orally and in writing, as well as a team player who can think, act, and discuss scientific concepts and discoveries across disciplines in a constructive and collaborative way. You have a strong affinity to innovate and demonstrate an entrepreneurial way of working. You make realistic plans for complex science and research projects including scientific approach, reviews, reporting, and stakeholder management. You are not afraid of voicing your opinion and giving a different perspective on scientific plans and strategies constructively.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Discovery and characterization of novel enzymes and biocatalytic routes for the synthesis of new and known target molecules.
- Running of research projects and supervision of one technician.
- Build and maintain a network with internal and external research partners in the field of biocatalysis and other related fields.
- Maintain a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific literature, patents and competitor capabilities and products.
- Comply with Safety, Health & Environment procedures and proactively contribute to improve laboratory safety culture.

**You Bring**:

- Ph.D. in Biocatalysis, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field with practical experience in the biocatalytic production of molecules.
- Multiple years of demonstrated hands-on experience in enzyme discovery, enzyme development/screening, enzymology, and recombinant protein expression.
- Good knowledge of organic chemistry and analytical chemistry (e.g. GC-FID/MS, HPLC).
- Knowledge in bioinformatics and in laboratory automation systems is desirable.
- Creative, open-minded, analytical, goal-oriented, autonomous personality.
- Fluent in English or French; and a willingness to learn the other language.
- Team player.
