Hitachi Energy Research, in close collaboration with business areas, is developing foundations for the next generation of Power Grids products. Located in the proximity of Zurich, the research center employs approximately 60 scientists from all over the world with cross-disciplinary expertise. In the System Integration and Physics Group, we perform cutting-edge research and look at various aspects of making the power system stronger, smarter and greener. We focus on the challenges and opportunities in enhancing grid flexibility and facilitating renewable energy transition. In this context, we offer an internship position which provides the opportunity of working on real-world projects in an international team of research scientists.

**How you’ll make an impact**
- Develop multi-physics models for simulating components of high voltage equipment
- Verify and validate the models with experimental data
- Collaborate with experts in a multi-disciplinary research team
- Present progress updates and results, and write technical reports
- Contribute to scientific publications

**Your Background**
- Basic understanding of partial differential equations, electromagnetics and thermal physics
- Experience with simulation and modeling with Matlab or Python. Knowledge of with multi-physics software, such as COMSOL would be a plus
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Enthusiastic, motivated and curious team player with good organizational skills
- Availability for 6 months, with the possibility of further extension
