**General Description**
The High School German teacher is responsible for fostering a passion for German among students
throughout the High School and for working collaboratively with the Language Acquisition department to
teach a variety of courses, some combination of IB MYP, DP (Lang B) and/or AP, working with students
with a diverse range of talent and ability. In addition, all teachers participate in our student Personal
Development Programme as a Homeroom, PSHE or Service Project leader.

The German Teacher is expected to:
**While working with ISZL Students**
Teach German courses in the High School and maintain curriculum documentation for these
- courses- Involve students in planning for their own learning through appropriate and regular assessment;
- Plan and implement significant units of work within a framework of continuity and progression;
- Use a variety of different teaching strategies and resources to cater for a variety of different
- learning situations, abilities, and styles.- Work collaboratively with the Learning support team when appropriate to ensure that all students
- are supported in the classroom.- Offer regular, written, formative and summative feedback to support student progress.
- Encourage and maintain high standards of behaviour, punctuality and attendance by students.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the school through performing regular duties and being
- familiar with school policies.- Participate in Personal Development Week (experiential education trip) and our Personal

Development Programme (i.e, teaching PSHE, Homeroom or Service as Action), as well as our
clubs and activities programme.

**While working with ISZL Colleagues**
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure departmental and school-wide philosophical alignment- Collaborate within course teams to review, develop and refine the German courses to maximise
- and enhance student learning.- Participate in departmental, divisional and schoolwide meetings.
- Engage with colleagues to deepen practice and learn from each other through regular meetings,

lesson observations and professional development opportunities.

**While working with ISZL Parents and the External Community**
Engage parents as a true partner in the learning process
- Provide regular and appropriate contact with parents to share feedback on academic

performance, social integration and general progress.
- Display student work to showcase their learning and accomplishments
- Present occasionally at parent evenings.

**Required and Preferred Qualifications**- Preferred experience would include language acquisition

**Compensation**
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and is very
competitive globally.
