As a member of the Digital Content & Campaigns (DC&C) Team in the Communications & Engagement (C&E) function, the Director, Editorial is responsible for identifying, developing and executing the editorial direction and content for priority business themes supporting Novartis’ reputation and storytelling across digital channels.

So, what’s the job?
- Serve as a writer and substantive editor for other content creators on the team, including third party creative partners
- Through story mining and interviews, uncover, structure and write compelling narratives and pieces that meet audience, business partner and campaign needs in a compelling way that avoids corporate speak. Collaborate with colleagues who specialize in measurement and analytics to evaluate the impact of our storytelling efforts and leverage insight to evolve our online storytelling to best-in-class
- Work in partnership with business leads and campaign strategists to identify areas of strategic focus and draw out compelling stories in business areas to build priority campaigns for both internal and external audiences. Collaborate with other content creators to extend the use of content iteratively and explore new digital and social storytelling approaches
- Shape content with media partners, navigating business and legal guardrails and establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders ensure consistency of Novartis brand position in all content
- Draft, write and edit content including profiles, news pieces, feature stories and social post copy; collaboratively produce videos, audio clips, animations and social cuts for distribution across digital channels
- Participate in the editorial planning process and serve as lead editorial point of contact for Digital Content & Campaigns team members in CET/European time zones.
- Drive and finalize risk-based and principle-based reviews with internal stakeholders. Own, educate and continue to evolve review guidelines and content approval processes. Capture supporting documentation related to content approvals and ensure content is aligned to the Novartis brand and fully consistent with legal, regulatory and compliance environment
- Guide creatives/copyeditors to align copy with overall narratives and editorial planning and manage support for copyediting, fact checking and documentation (i.e. releases/consents)

**Minimum requirements**

What you’ll bring to the role:

- A passion for storytelling and love of your craft. Relevant degree, postgraduate and working qualifications in storytelling; Proficiency in English required and knowledge of German a distinct advantage.
- Minimum 10+ years deep writing experience in varied-length formats for digital platforms, including social posts, video scripts and web.
- Comfortable across mediums integrating visual, video and audio into narratives with strong knowledge of cultural and media trends
- Adept at science, medical and cultural storytelling including story conception, interviewing and in-formation gathering, writing, editing and using digital storytelling tool
- Experience creating content for social platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok.
- Proven decisive, bold and creative thinker who is audience-focused and adaptable. A mindset that models curiosity, openness and solutions-oriented action to support and grow those around you.
