The Underwriter will be actively involved in underwriting a portfolio of Global, International reinsurance, and London Market accounts within the Global Catastrophe portfolio. Overall, your specific job responsibilities include:

- Underwriting a world-class portfolio of reinsurance catastrophe accounts;
- Managing catastrophe loss evaluation and reporting for the accounts underwritten;
- Ensuring that guidelines, plans and policies are adhered to;
- Strengthening and building client and broker relationships;
- Supporting and contributing to strategy and action planning;
- Acquiring, analysing and reporting on market, business and technical developments;
- Making underwriting decisions within the authorized limit;
- Supporting the underwriting and portfolio steering of the worldwide cat reinsurance portfolio as required.

**Qualifications**
- Preferably a university degree in a numerate discipline.
- Knowledge of retro, reinsurance and insurance structures.
- Established relationships with brokers in the reinsurance market.
- Intimate knowledge of reinsurance pricing techniques and catastrophe models.
- Excellent information technology skills.
- An impeccable work ethic, and the ability and commitment to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
- Preferably 8+ years, but a minimum of 5 years experience in the reinsurance industry, including progressive experience of catastrophe market dynamics.
- Relevant professional designations would be an asset.
