The EPFL campus offers an exceptional working environment at the heart of a community of more than 16,000 people, including over 12,000 students and 4,000 researchers from more than 120 different countries. **Post-doctoral position (W/M) in Structural Engineering on “bridge design, assessment and reliability"**: **Your mission**: At the Resilient Steel Structures Laboratory (RESSLab), we work in the field of structural civil engineering. The central focus of the laboratory is how to develop new approaches, metrics and tools to enhance resilient-based design of steel and composite-steel structures under multiple hazards. Research topics span across steel buildings and bridges, performance-based earthquake engineering, seismic risk and loss assessment, modelling of both action effects and resistance in a probabilistic way, existing structures evaluation, see our website for more information. The offered position is in the domain of road bridges, in improving load models to account for actual traffic effects and achieving a more uniform reliability level among the different bridge types. We are part of EPFL’s Civil Engineering Institute. The laboratory facilities are located at the main campus in Ecublens, Lausanne. **Main duties and responsibilities include**: - Structural analyses and FEM modelling - Design of steel and/or concrete bridges - Experience in reliability would be an asset - Programming (Matlab) to automize tasks - Plan and perform Monte Carlo simulations - Assistance with research data management and reporting **Your profile**: - Master and PhD degrees in civil engineering from an ETH, or equivalent, with a specialisation in structural engineering - Recently graduated - Highly motivated, solution-oriented, and a good team player - Excited about mastering unforeseen challenges, meticulous, analytical, inventive, and reliable - Native French, German or English-speaker or equivalent (C2) - Fluent in at least one other language from the above (B2) - Must be eligible to work in Switzerland, priority given to CH and EU citizens **We offer**: - Participation in national FEDRO and international research projects - Participation in existing bridge evaluation mandates - Scientific exchange in and interdisciplinary research team **Start date**: As soon as possible **Term of employment**: Fixed-term (CDD) **Work rate**: 90% **Duration**: 1 year (with possibility of extension) **Contact**: Prof. Alain Nussbaumer **Remark**: **Reference**: Job Nb 2486
