The Biozentrum of the University of Basel is one of the leading life sciences institutes in the world. It consists of 30 groups and 500 employees that research how molecules and cells create life, spanning the scale from atom to organism. Founded in 1971, the Biozentrum has been the birthplace of many fundamental discoveries in biology and medicine, spawning several Nobel Laureates.

A lab technician position (50%) is available on a temporary basis in the laboratory of Prof. Christoph Dehio at the Biozentrum, University of Basel, Switzerland. This position can be an entry level job or for somebody who wants to return to work after a break and offers flexible time management.

**Your position**
- Assistance and support of microbiological research projects
- Ordering and restocking of lab supplies (SAP/SRM)
- Preparation of common buffers and media
- General organizational lab tasks

**Your profile**

You are a Biology Laboratory Technician, or have obtained a BSc/MSc in Biology or equivalent education; you are highly organized, detail-oriented with a clean working attitude; you have good computer skills and show independence in conducting and troubleshooting tasks; you are willing to work with bacterial pathogens at biosafety level 2 and standard hazardous laboratory compounds. Practical experience in microbiological techniques (bacterial culture), basic molecular techniques (cloning, PCR), mammalian cell culture and light microscopy is of advantage but not required.

This is a part-time position (50%) that offers the opportunity to join a well established lab. You will have access to an interdisciplinary and international team of enthusiastic scientists, with generous help from state-of-the-art facilities, and a lively and vibrant scientific community within the Biozentrum and the larger NCCR AntiResist network. The position is initially for six months, with the possibility of further extension. Salary and benefits according to University of Basel standards.
