Lonza in Visp is looking for a Head EHS SGIE. In alignment with Lonza’s EHS and Sustainability strategy, this role is accountable for development and implementation of EHS strategies and processes in the areas of contractor safety, construction safety, permit-to-work systems, critical safe work standards, and emergency response. He/she will drive a standardized approach across SGIE projects to maximize safety and effectiveness in diverse cultures. This includes oversight of compliance with corporate, site, and local regulatory requirements. This position places a strong emphasis on providing high-quality technical EHS support to SGIE projects and in the establishment of sustainable EHS systems, programs and processes that promote a culture of EHS excellence. He/She will interface with a wide variety of organizational leaders and strategic partners including Project Owners, facility engineering and maintenance, construction managers, general contractors, and local EHS staff. In addition to the local Visp responsibilities, the role also acts as the SPOC for Global (Corporate) EHS and provides functional leadership for all SGIE projects related to EHS.

The Head EHS SGIE is leading the SGIE EHS Organization in Visp. The Lead EHS SGIE reports operationally to the Head SGIE Visp and functionally to the Head Visp EHS.

Key responsibilities:

- Focuses on achieving the highest levels of HSE performance through behavior-base initiatives, safety practices, auditing, mentoring and implementing change, root-cause analyses of incidents including the management and closure of corrective actions.
- Implement EHS procedures, concepts, programs and risk mitigation strategies together with the relevant stakeholders in SGIE.
- Steer with the team the coordination of incident investigations and corrective action plans and activities.
- Provide guidance and act as partner for SGIE and construction partners for all associates and stakeholders regarding occupational safety topics.
- Implement the strategies for SGIE to meet company safety goals.
- Ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations, national, international and Lonza standards for SGIE construction sites.
- Act as the SPOC for Global (Corporate) EHS and provide functional leadership for all SGIE projects related to EHS in regards to construction and design related topics/escalations for all SGIE projects globally

Key requirements:

- Degree in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Technology or similar
- Safety engineer according to SUVA regulation
- Extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical Engineering Construction industry, ideally Bio
- or pharmaceutical Industry or Manufacturing
- Experience in leading teams and in construction safety
- Proven process understanding of construction safety in the pharmaceutical environment or similar
- Strong presentation skills for developing and delivering training to elevate knowledge, skills and behaviors at multiple levels of the organization.
- Fluency in German and English is required
