Phd Candidate Photonics

SUSS MicroOptics SA develops and manufactures high quality micro-optical components based in Hauterive(Neuchâtel, Switzerland) and supplies to customers worldwide.

**Domain: MICRO-OPTICS TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURING**:
**Your Tasks**:

- Developing the next generation of micro-optics fabrication techniques based on a multicomponent
- system concept including microlenses and microprism utilizing state-of-the-art technologies
- Designing and simulating micro-optical photonics systems with high complexity level
- Designed experiments to improve our production capabilities
- Using machine learning (ML/AI) to evaluate and to increase process efficiencies
- Building optical test setups to acquire test data and carry out performance analyses
- Transferring research and development results to production
- Supporting the simulation team to optimize internal and client-based photonic systems
- Enrolment at the EPFL’s doctoral school benefiting from advanced lectures
- Participating within EPFL’s Microsystems Laboratory for additional training

**Your profile**:

- Engineer/Scientist degree (Master) in microtechnology/ physics/electrical engineering/ material science with a strong background in optics or optical technology

**Skills required**:

- Good knowledge of optical engingeering, microfabrication and material science
- Experience in data analysis and simulation (Matlab,)
- Highly motivated with excellent analytical skills
- Efficient, proactive and takes initiative
- Well organized
- Excellent communication skills, motivated and flexible, ability to work in a team
- Fluent in English, good proficiency in French, German is an asset
