You will join:

- The Engineering Department (EN) provides CERN with the Engineering Competences, Infrastructure Systems and Technical Coordination required for the design, installation, operation, maintenance and dismantling phases of the CERN accelerator complex and its experimental facilities.
- The Access and Alarms group (AA) oversees the design, engineering, installation, maintenance, operation, and renewal of the systems that ensures the Safety of the CERN Personnel, Users and Visitors, on all the CERN sites, Accelerators and Experiment Facilities.
- The Alarm Systems (AS) Section is a six-person team comprising four skilled technicians and two engineers. The section is responsible for the supply, installation, maintenance, operation, renovation and support of all safety alarm systems. In particular it is responsible for detection and protection systems (Fire, Flammable Gas, Oxygen Deficiency, Toxic Gases and Emergency telephones) and the safety alarm transmission systems to the relevant control rooms (CERN Fire Brigade and CERN Control Centre).

There are today installed at CERN about 10300 smoke detectors, 4500 sirens, 2400 evacuation buttons, 1500 gas detectors, 160 detection centrals distributed all over 625 ha, 700 buildings, 274 barracks, 325 underground structures (works) including 50 shafts, 160 service galleries, about 59 km of tunnel and 1900 floors. Correct information in the maintenance database and precis geographical location It is essential today to provide a precis geographical location of all alarm systems equipment.

It is in this context, that you will participate on the following activities:

- Complete the use of CERN Geographical Information System (GIS) as **alarm systems layout representation tool** for the underground arear;
- Integrate the GAS and CSAM objects in the GIS;
- Continue the **consolidation program** started to homogenise maintenance practices among the section and among contractors - equipment structure, equipment information, traceability in AS’s INFOR EAM (CERN Asset Management Software);
- Study the implication of the new locations structure in INFOR on our pentaho reports and implement modification on INFOR and reports;
- Creation and update of pentaho reports;
- Support project leaders with update and creation of DIC (Demande de Installation Cables) and creation of associated objects in INFOR.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for a place on the programme you will need to meet the following requirements:

- You have a Technical Diploma (careers.cern/ttediplomas), in **Electrical** or **Information Technologies (IT) **field. and no more than 4 years' relevant experience after finishing your diploma;
- If you are currently studying, you are still eligible to apply, although you are expected to have obtained your qualification by the start of your appointment at CERN;
- If you hold a BSc or MSc, you are not eligible. However you may be eligible for the Fellowship Programme;
- You should have at least a working knowledge of English OR French.

**Specific sills required for this project**:

- Knowledge of maintenance basic strategies (run-to-failure, inspections, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, design change);
- Basic Knowledge on Geographic Information Systems would be an advantage;
- Database knowledge would be an advantage.
