The Bank for International Settlements has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Reporting Accountant within our team in Basel.

**Purpose of the job**:
Financial Reporting Accountants are responsible for the production of financial statements and various financial reports for the multi-currency operations of the BIS, its Pension Fund, its Investment Pools and hosted organisations in accordance with the BIS accounting policies and procedures, including analysing the financial results.
**Principal accountabilities**:
- Produce the financial statements of the operations of the BIS, its Pension Fund, its Investment Pools, and its hosted organisations.
- Operate and develop enhancements for accounting processes for daily, month-end, quarter-end and year-end activities, reconciliations, and other control procedures.
- Provide assistance, responding and resolving matters as part of the annual audits for the BIS, its Pension Fund, its Investment Pools and hosted organisations.
- Produce, review, analyse and develop high-quality key management, financial and budget reports, including annual financial statement disclosures.
- Participate in projects to maintain and improve finance systems, business processes, internal controls, and reports within the Finance section as well as in bank-wide initiatives.
- Build and manage relationships with both internal and external customers and provides support for various departments across the Bank.
- Maintain, develop, and review finance related policies such as accounting and budgeting manuals. This includes identification of new policies and procedures as well as reviewing old policies for accuracy.
- This is a BC (Business Continuity) critical role with the requirement to perform regular testing of BC preparedness.
**Qualifications, skills, and experience**:
- University degree in accounting, business administration or a quantitative field.
- An accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA, Wirtschaftsprüfer or equivalent experience), with relevant post qualification experience.
- Strong reporting and accounting skills.
- Knowledge of IFRS, financial instruments and banking operations.
- Strong IT skills: Excellent Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of financial management information systems, banking systems and reporting-writing tools (e.g. PeopleSoft, Business Objects, Cognos) are desirable.
- High attention to detail, problem solving, analytical skills and time management skills to coordinate and prioritise work with minimum supervision and the ability to run multiple projects/duties and to handle complexity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and is a good team worker.
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills. Other major world languages desirable.
