**Background**:
**Purpose of Activity/Assignment**

Under the guidance and supervision of the Child Rights Monitoring Specialist and in close consultation with the Knowledge Management Specialist in UNICEFs’ Regional Office, the intern will provide support to activities undertaken within the framework of the current Programme, Planning and Data Section Work Plan. The following section will describe the tasks that the intern is expected to contribute to.

**Main tasks**
- Find and execute creative ways of communicating and disseminating data-based reports at the regional and country level.
- Support the set-up of dedicated internal / external sites (particularly governmental) that will bring together data and analysis on children’s rights. The site should be updated as new data set become available. Main components include data, summary analysis, dashboards, links.
- Contribute to the set-up of collaboration sites in SharePoint by creating pages, links to other relevant resources, and supporting content migration of working files.
- Test and maintain the functionality of interactive features of the sites.
- Gather data and prepare reports on usage of the sites.
- Develop and maintain data visualization projects in PowerBI / Infogram / Tableau.

**Estimated Duration of the Contract**

Full time internship of 6 months

**Intern’s Workplace**

the assignment may start remotely and later Geneva office-base if conditions permit.

**Education Requirements**
To be considered for an internship with UNICEF, applicants must meet the following general requirements:

- Completed undergraduate or enrolled in graduate studies (or have graduated within the past two years) in the following areas: communication, education, development studies or a related field.
- Have strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Experience with modern data communication and visualization tools
- Excellent use of web development and design tools such as SharePoint.
- Very good understanding of data sources with adequate quantitative skills.
- Effective communication skills, excellent written English skills and ability to write clearly and succinctly.
- Excellent planning and organizing skills
- Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian response and development programmes is an asset.

**Eligibility**

To be considered for an internship with UNICEF, applicants must meet the following general requirements:

- Be at least 18 years old
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years (please refer to required skills and experience for more details)
- Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF's working languages (please refer to Language requirements).
- Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
- Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and
- Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to.

**Conditions of Service**:
**Stipend**:In accordance to UNICEF's guidelines, the intern will be paid a nominal stipend per month. There is no expectancy of employment in UNICEF at the end of the internship

**Travel and Visa**: Travel costs to and from the duty station can be reimbursed up to a certain amount according to UNICEF's guidelines. Intern is responsible for obtaining the necessary entry visa and arranging their travel to Geneva. UNICEF will assist only in issuing documents required in visa processing (Note Verbale).

**Mandatory Courses**: Selected interns will be requested to complete online mandatory courses prior to commencement of the internship.

**Equipment**: For remote/home-based internships, UNICEF will not provide IT equipment, nor will cover internet connectivity costs
