Associate Director, Maintenance Excellence

The Associate Director of Maintenance Excellence is responsible help achieve a high reliability of E & M disciplines across Lonza’s network at competitive cost. The incumbent assists with the implementation of Lonza’s Asset Management Program (LAMP) including related digitalization & automation activities in collaboration with global and site stakeholders. Activities which support this include purpose include but are not limited to:

- Evaluating current Lonza E&M processes, system controls, effectiveness etc. and benchmarking to industry-standards/best-practices for asset management.
- Driving selected global projects to improve harmonization and effectiveness of E&M related processing at Lonza. partly with external partners
- Global ownership of selected E&M processes at Lonza
- Analysis of global program GAPs, mitigation definition and gap closure.
- Development of SOPs and tools, harmonization of standards and development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators
- Supporting use of key technologies as a SME and business process owner

Key responsibilities:

- Assist with development and lead selected work streams associated with the Lonza Asset Management Program (LAMP). These work streams include processes and organization of E&M, planning and scheduling, workspace and workflows, life cycle of assets, spare part management, maintenance strategy, KPI definition and control, CMMS execution and improvements, OEE measurements, reliability and maintenance effectiveness reviews, costing and IT tools.
- Lead selected work groups related to LAMP, and ensure effective two-way communication within the global network.
- Global ownership of selected E&M processes and standards; site audit support to justify those processes and standards.
- As an E&M SME, support production and project teams in all questions of plant engineering, maintenance and utilities as well as troubleshooting activities.
- Implement improvement ideas (Innovation) for processes, plants and procedures (maintenance excellence)
- Lead business maintenance processes. Develop and update documents and document structure, perform training, and provide other required program implementation support.
- Administer Maintenance Software (CMMS) tools to streamline performance, and ensure data integrity and compliance with quality standards. Assist with CMMS program updates and improvements, and roll-out to individual sites inline with the Maintenance Digitalization roadmap
- Ensure a culture of mutual accountability and full collaboration with customers and diverse Lonza sites as well as departments for effective implementation and sustainable endorsement of standards
- Forge strong relationships with other departments and sites (eg. QA, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Analytical Services, Global / Site / Project Engineering, Product Development)
- Translate technological change, advanced knowhow and efficient (business) processes into the Lonza’s network
- Act as a global project leader to progress different work streams including supporting maintenance digitalization projects
- Be accountable for the global standards. Continuously improve standards to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Key requirements:

- Experience within the reliability engineering/ maintenance field in a regulated and high technology environment.
- Proven hands-on experience in implementing asset management best practices in Engineering/Maintenance in a multi-site or global environment
- Experience implementing asset management programs on a large or global scale
- Project management skills and familiarity with Operational Excellence tools.
- Hands-on experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). SAPPM experience preferred.
- Leadership experience leading global project teams with indirect reporting
- Agile and pro-active relationship management in a multi-matrix organization
