**This position reports to**:
R&D Unit Lead

**Your role and responsibilities**:
In this role, you will lead the R&D Verification and Validation team within the System Drives R&D organization, providing both technical and managerial support. You will ensure delivery on R&D targets and collaborate closely with key internal and external stakeholders to develop ABB’s Medium Voltage System Drives. These products are used across various industries, including marine, renewables, oil & gas, and water. The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid This role is contributing to the Motion System Drives in Switzerland. You will be mainly accountable for: - Leading and supporting the R&D Validation and Verification team in meeting technical and project targets, while ensuring a strong safety culture across all activities. - Managing internal processes, capacity planning, team competencies, and full budget responsibility for the cost center, including forecasting, tracking, and resource allocation. - Coaching and developing team members by encouraging collaboration, facilitating knowledge sharing, and ensuring the right mix of skills and engagement across the team. - Providing direct technical skills in Medium Voltage/Low Voltage testing environments, supporting lab infrastructure upgrades, and assisting product and project managers with effort estimations and scenario planning.

**Qualifications for the role**:

- You possess a solid academic background (BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent) and extensive experience in High-Power Electronics, particularly in laboratory infrastructure and testing, with a focus on validation and verification of Medium Voltage converters.
- You are an inspiring leader with the ability to manage and motivate a specialized R&D team; experience in project management is a strong advantage.
- You have direct experience in designing and implementing test setups, as well as executing validation, verification, and certification activities for high-power components and complete converter systems.
- You are a structured, self-organized professional with a pragmatic and goal-oriented mindset, passionate about applied R&D and testing.
- You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken; German skills are a plus and appreciated in our international environment.
