Gas Desk Strategist

We are very happy, to announce another exciting opportunity to join Alpiq’s Merchant Trading department. The Gas Desk Strategist is a highly commercial and multifaceted Analyst role, which is ideal for somebody with an analytical mind as well as strong commercial ambitions and excellent collaboration skills. Previous gas experience is required, but we are open to both junior and senior profiles. The role reports into the Analysis team, but is an integral part of our Gas Trading Desk. It is based in Olten, Switzerland and comes with an attractive compensation package, as well as the possibility to work 1-2 days per week from home. For applicants from outside of Switzerland, we offer work permit sponsorship and relocation support.

**Your main responsibilities**
- Collecting, modelling and interpreting fundamental data on gas, as well as related commodities
- Building and developing forecasting and decision support tools for traders
- Close exchange with other analysts and market experts within the company, in order to finetune market views and exchange best practices
- Identifying and quantifying trading opportunities, building but also challenging market views
- Managing exposure and risk in alignment with Alpiq policy

**Your Profile**
- Preferably 5 years of experience in gas analysis and solid fundamental market knowledge
- Ability to develop quantitative models
- Strong commercial sense & ability to turn analysis into trading strategies
- Excellent data management and coding skills, preferably in Python and R
- Great influencing and communication skills, strong team player
- Fluency in English
