**Department of Rheumatologie, University Hospital Zürich** **PhD Project: Deciphering Arthritis in Systemic Sclerosis (Doctoral Program Clinical Science) 100 %**: Stellenantritt 01.03.2026, befristet The research department in Rheumatology department spans from clinical studies conducted at the hospital to molecular biology projects at the Center for Experimental Rheumatology, where physicians work closely with scientists from various disciplines. This structure enables us to cover the full spectrum of medical research-from comprehensive preclinical studies that build the functional portfolio for innovative therapeutic and diagnostic approaches, to clinical observational studies and Phase 2/3 clinical trials. - Conduct advanced statistical analyses of large-scale European cohort data (>20,000 patients) with a focus on joint involvement in systemic sclerosis. Evaluate the prevalence, clinical characteristics, and longitudinal course of SSc-related arthritis. Assess the effectiveness and safety of rheumatologic therapies for SSc-related arthritis through questionnaire-based data collection and analysis. Collaborate with clinical researchers, statisticians, and international partners to ensure high-quality data handling and interpretation. Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and contribute to conference presentations. Actively participate in regular project meetings and in the broader PhD training program - Master's degree (or equivalent) in medicine, life sciences, epidemiology, public health, or a related field - Solid knowledge of biostatistics and hands-on experience with statistical software, preferably R - Strong interest in clinical research and autoimmune rheumatic diseases - Proficiency in English (written and spoken) for scientific communication - Ability to work independently, with excellent organizational and time-management skills - Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative working style We offer: We offer varied and interesting work in an inspiring and socially relevant environment.
