At Swiss Re, **Underwriting has been and always will be core to our business**, which is why **Underwriting Excellence** was chosen as a **Group must-win for 2021 and beyond.** We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced leader who can own and drive the transformation of our underwriting capabilities throughout the Swiss Re Group in order to power Swiss Re to the next level. A key part of the role will involve the development of an UW Academy which focuses on the strategic development of our underwriters to achieve our vision of building the world's best Underwriting Community. You would be responsible for the strategy, creation and execution of a complete underwriter development curriculum, based on critical future capabilities needed to complete our business strategy. Partnering with Underwriting leaders within our Business Units / Functions and HR in order to create and complete the various learning and development solutions. In addition, successful execution of the annual underwriting assessment process, together with the identification of development needs and resulting L&D actions to address is also part of the role. **Your main responsibilities**: Build a strategic vision for the creation of an Underwriting Academy and be responsible for bringing the vision to life, including defining the resources/ budget required to make this successful. Lead the focused and strategic development of our entire underwriting community in close partnership with respective partners within Corso, Reinsurance, iptiQ and HR Develop a robust change and communications approach to enable the shift towards a learning culture, including regular change and comms activities / campaigns etc to keep momentum Operationalize a systemic learning and development approach together with the development of a learning culture, which includes: - Identifying the skills and capabilities needed for the underwriter of the future, based on insights and trends within the insurance/ reinsurance industry and underwriting field - Identifying knowledge gaps and development needs through the annual assessment process, together with consultation with internal and external partners - Lead the execution / roll out of the L&D curriculums across the entire UW community, through strong partnering with the respective UW leaders within each Business Unit / Function and HR - Partner with the Head CoE People & Culture Development and the global Theme Owner for L&D; - to drive the development of a comprehensive learning & development curriculum against the agreed future-fit capabilities with specific focus on mechanisms to enable learning on the job and from others. - to create/ acquire learning content / industry designations and/or translate technical know-how into innovative and commercial learning solutions. The ultimate ambition is to monetize the UW Academy as a commercial business school - to collaborate together on cross-unit L&D related projects such as Strategic People Planning, Job Family Architecture, LearningOne - Be an active member of the community of practice of L&D professionals across Swiss Re About you - University degree or equivalent in Business Administration / Economics / Human Resources or another related field - Excellent command of spoken and written English - 10 - 15 years' experience in either a Learning & Development role or an Underwriter with a passion for education, training, and development - Experience of leading cultural change / transformations at scale and complimented by experience in business consulting - Entrepreneurial thinker and strategic problem solver with a track-record of creative problem-solving as well as openness and curiosity to l
