So are we In the past few years, Esri has put a large effort into making 3D GIS accessible and powerful for both consumers and experts, across all platforms and devices. We are dedicated to keep pushing the boundaries of 3D GIS, and you can play a key role in our mission.
At the Esri R&D Center-Zurich we lead the development of Esri’s core 3D web technologies: the ArcGIS API for JavaScript and the ArcGIS Scene Viewer. With a focus on urban planning, our tools provide powerful 3D mapping and spatial analytics capabilities to users across many disciplines and industries: from conservation, forestry, and earth sciences to telecommunications, utilities, and transportation solutions.
**Responsibilities**:
- When needed, gather requirements and synthesize them into user stories
- Craft solutions at various levels of fidelity, from high-level wireframes or interactive prototypes to detailed visual designs
- Drive overall design coherence by providing interaction and visual design guidance and reviews, engaging in continuous collaboration with the whole team
- Document and present designs to a wide range of audiences, including software development, quality assurance, and product management
- Leverage and balance business principles and stakeholders while delivering customer-centered design solutions
- Stay up to speed on latest mobile, web, and responsive design patterns and technologies
- Scope and prioritize work across multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced team environment
**Requirements**:
- Portfolio emphasizing web and mobile interaction and design skills
- Strong knowledge of industry standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas to their essence
- Understanding of 3D space to conceptualize and communicate design ideas
- Bachelor’s in interaction design or graphic design
Recommended Qualifications:
- Experience working closely with developers translating design into production code
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS (Sass/Less)
- Knowledge of 3D tools such as Cinema4D, Maya, Houdini, Blender, or similar
- Experience in using Agile software development methods (SCRUM, etc.)
- Familiarity with ArcGIS or GIS software in general, with emphasis in map design/cartography
