The Environment and Properties Risk Leader is responsible for leading the strategy of the environmental & properties risks across the GE Vernova businesses. This individual also leads a team of EHS Technical Project Managers across the GE Vernova businesses. The Risk Leader functions as a partner to a combined technical and legal team that provides advice and counsel on all Environmental, Health and Safety matters relating to remediation/brownfields, real estate transactions, global M&A, integration, divestitures, restructuring, plant closures/cessation of operations, all as a member of the GE Vernova Supply Chain Development organization. The Global Supply Chain Development team will develop and execute operations strategies across Vernova.

This leader will also develop the brownfield redevelopment strategy and projects covering many aspects of property management (e.g., cost-out, GHG emissions, environmental justice, etc.).

Success in this role requires effective partnership and collaboration with cross-functional GE Vernova leaders (e.g., business development, legal, supply chain, EHS, strategy) to provide operational insight and considerations into key initiatives (e.g., mergers/acquisitions, divestitures, expansion, etc.).

Essential Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a professional staff of scientists and engineers responsible for legacy contamination, Brownfields, real estate transactions, global M&A, integration, divestitures, and restructuring.
- Play a leadership role in identifying, analyzing, and proposing mitigation for EHS and property related risks.
- Optimize the mix of internal and external environmental consultants and law firms to provide best value for GEV while effective managing the risks (financial, regulatory, technical).
- Manage financial requirements (budgets, reserves) ensuring accurate estimates and timely reporting of reserve early-warnings and budgets.
- Leverage experience and represent GEV in community and in public meetings, including interactions with government officials.
- Assist Technical Team with the development and implementation of GEV Technical Program policies and procedures, including brownfields redevelopment.
- Provide strategic direction and decision-making support to staff on GEV technical projects.
- Develop a properties strategy for GE Vernova and support preparation for sale activities at Brownfield sites in the Portfolio.
- Facilitate technical team working across all technical program areas and across all BUs.
- Ensure use of best practices for contracting/sourcing of external spend.
- Provide expert technical services as needed to support EHS Legal, Brownfields, M&A, property Transactions or other business projects.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or advanced degree in either environmental science, geology, engineering, or equivalent, or equivalent experience/ knowledge
- Major EHS experience in Brownfield remediation, real estate / properties transactions, EHS management of mergers & acquisitions, divestiture, joint ventures, and integration planning.
- Impactful communicator with experience working and leading cross-culturally in large, matrixed organizations - understands how to navigate geographies, cultures, relationships, etc.
- Highly collaborative person, comfortable with conflict and debate normally associated with change.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance thought leadership, continuous learning, and improvement with demonstrated results.
- Able to leverage lean thinking, culture and tools into strategy development and problem solving.
- Strong technical and analytical aptitude to understand and articulate complicated trade-offs.
- Skilled communicator capable of listening to multiple perspectives and incorporating into a balanced approach that optimizes the outcome.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical advice in a highly regulated environment such as the remedial framework.
- Ability to travel including internationally (~30% travel).
- Able to clearly communicate (written and verbal) complex technical information in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Demonstrated success in coordinating technical, financial, reputational, and legal components of projects.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and lead project teams and interact cross functionally.
- Demonstrated experience understanding and implementing EHS regulations and environmental due diligence standards.
- Track record of leading highly effective teams across a matrixed organization.

Desired Characteristics
- JD with major legal experience.
- Experience in footprint optimization leadership, or similar.
- Experience in Properties Sales.
- Significant interactions with senior government regulators and external environmental community.
- Experience building, managing, developing, and leading high-performance teams.
- Deep knowledge of GEV EHS programs and policies.
