**HPC System Manager (W/M)**:
**Your mission**:

- Today, our infrastructure includes: 1k+ compute nodes (CPU + GPU), large storage systems, deployment and configuration management tools and a centralized platform for storing, visualizing and monitoring metrics and events.
- We have the following ongoing developments: elastic compute solutions in the cloud, long-term archive systems, 100+ nodes for remote 3D visualization.**Main duties and responsibilities include**:
More specifically, you will:

- Supervise a team of highly qualified engineers, provide technical and administrative support and evaluate the performance of all team members
- Manage SCITAS procurement processes for the acquisition of next generation HPC and storage systems
- Implement and manage a comprehensive scientific computing infrastructure life-cycle management process from initial requirements definition through deployment, maintenance, sustainability, continuous improvement and decommissioning
- Coordinate with SCITAS management and governance to prioritize and select projects based on available resources and production constraints
- Lead small
- and large-scale projects to implement, upgrade and maintain EPFL's scientific computing capabilities, mentoring project leaders to achieve predefined goals
- Establish practices to develop and maintain highly scalable scientific computing environments based on DevSecOps principles, while adhering to the software delivery performance metrics established by the DORA program
- Select and lead the deployment of tools to facilitate DevSecOps development practices and provide a consistent platform for all activities
- Write, maintain and ensure compliance with the service level agreement between SCITAS and its user community
- Conduct training for the user community.

**Your profile**:
Ability to organize and manage an IT production team and a project team, in charge of solving complex technical issues in an HPC environment.
Ability to motivate your teams, stimulate a collaborative environment and maintain a strong open-source culture with a high degree of autonomy.

**Applicants must have**:

- Higher Education in Computer Science
- At least 10 years’ experience in the field of scientific computing and high-performance computing
- Over 5 years of proven experience in leading highly skilled teams
- Solid experience in managing critical IT projects and services and ability to meet business constraints
- Good communication and strong negotiation skills
- Fluency in French and English is essential
- Extensive experience in managing distributed GNU/Linux computing systems (Beowulf clusters), including services, low latency network and massive upgrade operations
- Ability to document procedures with a focus on sharing knowledge

**Applicants should have**:

- Previous experience in an academic and research environment
- Experience in financial management of a unit, including invoice management
- Knowledge of a second Swiss national language is an asset
