Technician Material Testing (M/F)

(Ref: TMT - FD- 01)

To support our Advanced Materials division, we are looking for a Technician Material Testing who will join our Technology Team. The position is a full-time contract based in Basel, Switzerland.

As Technician Material Testing, you will:

- Test plastics and composites - in mechanical and physical/ flammability testing areas - accurately and on time
- Support the associates (Technology, Marketing, etc.) and other Huntsman sites in projects related to R&D and commercial products/ samples as material testing partner
- Prepare specimens to be tested with manufacturing processes (diamond saw, Heidenhain CNC milling machine and water jet cutting machine)
- Help in the implementation of new testing methods
- Accurately document lab activities and test results (quality management) in line with our ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, using standard software such as MS Office, Outlook, etc.
- Organize the daily work using our laboratory information and management system (LIMS)
- Ensure compliance to Huntsman safety and compliance guidelines

**Requirements**:

- Technician (BTS, HF, etc.) degree in materials/ mechanical engineering (machines/ testing) in polymer and composite materials
- At least 2 years in a technical field focused on mechanical testing devices, ideally in the adhesive and/or composite areas (compression, flexural, tensile, etc.) and at least 1 year in flammability testing according to UL 94
- Good qualification in manual work (preparation of testing samples, deal with machines environment and their maintenance/ repair)
- Experience and know-how acquired in mechanical tests, ideally composites testing (based on continuous fibres, inorganic fillers, etc.) and/or adhesives (lap-shear, peel)
- Reliable person with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Very good metrology, IT and MS office knowledge (Excel, SAP is an advantage)
- Fluent in English, German is of advantage
