Intern - Innovative Fastening Solution for

WHAT'S THE ROLE?

Your task is to ideate on new visionary product concepts for fastening solutions that enable innovative and sustainable construction methods. Existing concepts need to be evaluated and using creativity methods new concepts are developed. That is followed by a corresponding proof-of-concept prototype that is tested under laboratory and job-site conditions. This is an interdisciplinary technology task with focus on hands-on mentality and the spirit to think outside the box.

Start date is flexible to the student's availability, duration between 6 and 12 months

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

As intern in our department you’ll be part of an interdisciplinary research team working on the challenges of tomorrow. You’ll work closely with our experts on developing innovative connection principles for timber and concrete building systems. Thus enabling a circular and more sustainable construction industry.

In your key responsibilities, you will significantly contribute to generate new innovative product concepts. Including proof-of-concept by designing and developing a functional demonstrator and finally testing and improving the applied solution in our lab. You will use your hands-on mentality to bring visions to life including interdisciplinary engineering activities, e.g. ideation for solutions, mechanical design, structural calculations and interdependencies with the connections, mechanical laboratory work, data processing and analysis, enhancing usability, etc

WHAT YOU NEED IS:

- Experience in construction beneficial (e.g.. design office in timber and/or concrete construction )
- Willingness and creativity in finding solutions for interdisciplinary technical challenges
- Passion for innovation and product development
- A proactive approach and self-reliant personality
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent English skills (German skills advantageous)
