**Presentation**:
The School of Criminal Justice of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration of the University of Lausanne is seeking a PhD researcher (graduate teaching assistant) in the area of microtraces and more specifically têxtile fibres.

The priority area of research concerns the modelling of the number of fibres transferred during contact and/or having persisted after a certain time or activity of the recipient têxtile. In this context, a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms involved is important, particularly as a function of the surface roughness of the têxtiles involved. This research will be inspired by the field of materials science and tribology in particular. The advantage of these fundamental sciences is that they offer the possibility of modelling these phenomena, which can be applied in forensic science.

Expected start date in position : 01.09.2025 or to be agreed

Contract length : 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years

Activity rate : 80-100%

Workplace : Lausanne-Dorigny

**Your qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in forensic science or any other discipline related to criminal science research. Master’s in materials science or analytical chemistry are also possible.
- Strong interest in research, scientific publication, participation in international conferences and research communication.
- Analytical skills, intellectual curiosity and interest in interdisciplinary perspectives,
- Solid knowledge of statistical data processing, design of experiments (DOE) or regression models, knowledge of the logical interpretation framework is an asset.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively (teamwork).
- Strong motivation to work in an interdisciplinary research and teaching environment.
