Scientist/principal Scientist, Synthetic Chemistry

Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, LifeMine is opening its European Headquarters in Basel. Our 4,000 m2 facility is in Klybeck, Basel, right next to the beautiful Rhine River and the train station, also close to City Center. The Klybeck area is home to many top US and Swiss pharmaceutical and Biotech companies in Europe's biotechnology hub.
**Summary**
**Responsibilities**
- Leverage modern synthetic chemistry to design, develop, and execute (1) total synthesis of novel, complex natural products and (2) scalable, modular syntheses of key intermediates that enable SAR generation to advance lead optimization goals.
- Continuously explore, evaluate, and implement new reactions and technologies to advance projects.
- As a key member of LifeMine's chemistry team, establish efficient collaboration strategies to execute synthetic and medicinal chemistry programs across both of LifeMine's sites as well as CROs.
**Requirements**:
- You have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and a well-established track record of conducting innovative organic synthesis work and drug discovery research in a pharma or biotech context.
- Experience working at the interface of Discovery and Process Chemistry is a plus.
- You have expert knowledge of and deep practical experience with current synthetic methods, with a strong focus on asymmetric synthesis and you have the ability to design and perform elaborate and technically challenging chemistry experiments.
- You have experience with both direct and lateral management of chemistry team and are able to build and maintain strong relationships with Contract Research and Development Organizations. You may also be required to help with technology transfers and scale-up activities as needed.
