Turgi, Schweiz ABB Vollzeit

**Internship nonlinear grid current controllers**:
**Take your next career step at ABB with a global team that is energizing the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable future. At ABB, we have the clear goal of driving diversity and inclusion across all dimensions: gender, LGBTQ+, abilities, ethnicity and generations. Together, we are embarking on a journey where each and every one of us, individually and collectively, welcomes and celebrates individual differences.**:
In R&D team in Turgi, medium voltage power electronic converters are being designed and developed for power levels higher than 12MW. These converters are primarily used for high power offshore wind turbines. A very important element of their control is the grid current controller. The current controller must contribute to the damping of disturbances that may appear in the grid by introducing a high effective resistance in a wide frequency range

**This position reports to**:
R&D Department Lead

**Your responsibilities**:

- Analyze and extend mathematical models of the current controller effective resistance for converters with nonlinear current controllers.
- Validate the mathematical models in the frequency domain via simulation.
- Validate the mathematical models in time domain via simulation.

**Your background**:

- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or similar field.
- Good working knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink.
- Interest in the following fields: power electronics, control theory.
- Courses in control theory (PID, lead/lag compensation), nonlinear systems, and model predictive control are desirable.
- Strong interest in research is desirable.
- Proficiency in English.

**Benefits**:

- Canteen
- Flexible work practices
- Gym membership
