- The internship will be for a period of three months beginning15 January 2025**Responsibilities**:
- The internship is located in the Transboundary Cooperation Section, Environment Division, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe based in Geneva. UNECE Environment Division contributes to the overall objectives and mandate of UNECE as a multilateral platform facilitating greater economic integration and cooperation among its member States, and to the broad aim of the Environment subprogramme to safeguard the environment and human health, and to promote sustainable development in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Responsibilities The intern is expected to contribute to the work of the secretariat to the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents as follows: a) Contribute to the preparation of capacity-building activities under the Convention’s Assistance and Cooperation Programme as well as seminars and workshops organized or co-organized by the secretariat; b) Prepare draft presentations, inputs for reports and project proposals on matters related to industrial accident prevention, preparedness and response; c) Support the organization, preparation of and follow-up to meetings of the Convention’s subsidiary bodies, notably the Bureau and Working Group on Implementation, and of expert groups; d) Conduct research on various environmental topics, including on industrial safety, land-use planning and mine tailings safety; e) Identify and promote linkages between the Industrial Accidents Convention, the SDGs and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction; f) Prepare content for the Industrial Accidents Convention web-page, make proposals on how to improve its user-friendliness and develop necessary new elements/texts; g) Prepare communication products, such as brochures, flyers, articles, social media posts; h) Support the preparation of press releases, articles, web stories, informal meeting minutes and other materials as may be required; i) Proofread and verify publications and informal documents/information with regard to the use of terminology on the Convention as well as consistency/correctness etc.; j) Perform other related duties as required.

- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French and/or Russian is an asset.
