Department of Psychology_ - Professorship for Social and Economic Psychology_ **Two PostDoc positions on human cooperation and social dynamics** Our lab aims to contribute to a better understanding of how groups overcome social dilemmas (think of the prisoner's dilemma, or the public goods problem), how individuals develop trust and reciprocity within and across group boundaries, how inequality influences cooperation, and what makes intergroup relations turn hostile. To get an idea of exemplary research questions you could be involved in, please consider taking a look at the following publications: see also Professorship for Social and Economic Psychology **Your responsibilities**: - Developing and conducting your own research projects in close collaboration with the chair and your colleagues - Conceptualizing, programming, and conducting own research projects, specifically: - Writing and publishing manuscripts in disciplinary and interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journals - Presenting your research at national and international conferences (e.g., the International Conference on Social Dilemmas; ICSD) - Supervision of thematically fitting bachelor and master theses **Your profile**: - PhD in psychology, economics, or related fields (such as, but not limited to, cognitive sciences, computer science, theoretical biology, mathematics) - Passion for understanding the "puzzle of human cooperation" or the dynamics of social behavior, more generally - Strong interest in, and experience with social dilemmas, economic games, game theory, etc. - Prior experience in either investigating social group dynamics experimentally (e.g., performing lab experiments), and/or theoretically (e.g., running simulations, developing theoretical models) - Publications in leading scientific journals on human cooperation, group processes, intergroup relations, or related domains - Very good statistical and methodological knowledge (e.g., prior knowledge about hierarchical/multilevel regression analysis) - Programming skills (e.g., R, MatLab, Python/oTree) - Excellent verbal and written English skills **What we offer**: You will have the unique opportunity to engage in societally relevant, theoretically important, and challenging research projects to advance our understanding of human cooperation and group living.
