As the Nautical Director for Scenic Group, you will hold a critical position responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of our river fleet along the picturesque Rhine Main Danube rivers. Reporting directly to the Vice President of River Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring strict adherence to our company's standards of excellence, safety protocols, and operational objectives while maintaining budgetary considerations. This role demands a seasoned maritime professional with a deep understanding of nautical operations and a passion for delivering unparalleled experiences to our guests. This position reports directly to VP River Operations.

**Requirements**:

- Ideally, possess a background as a captain on the Rhine Main Danube rivers, demonstrating a deep understanding of navigational principles and maritime regulations.
- Have 3-5 of experience in the river cruise industry in a comparable managerial position, with a proven track record of success in nautical operations and leadership.
- Strong administrative background & knowledge of MS Office
- Organized, flexible, positive, open-minded, excellent team player, able to work under pressure.
- Languages: English mandatory, French and German desirable

Operational Excellence:
Ensure that all vessels under management comply with Scenic Group's cost, safety, quality, operational objectives, policies, and budgets. Monitor and optimize vessel costs, safety measures, quality standards, and operational performance, including officer and crew performance.

Safety and Quality Assurance:
Provide invaluable input for developing, maintaining, and enhancing all safety and quality documentation, including issuing Ship Circulars. Implement rigorous safety and quality assurance measures to safeguard the well-being of passengers, crew, and assets.

Leadership and Training:
Lead, instruct, and supervise Corporate Captains in the day-to-day management of assigned vessels. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the nautical department. Identify training needs and provide internal or external training programs to enhance the skills of nautical staff.

Strategic Planning:
In accordance with Scenic Group policies, oversee recruitment, promotion, dismissal, and remuneration recommendations for the nautical department. Foster a cohesive, high-performing team culture built on mutual respect, trust, and accountability.

Team Management:

Risk Management:
Implement preventive and corrective actions related to safety and quality management systems. Conduct thorough Management Reviews and serve as the Head of the Emergency Response Team to mitigate risks and respond to emergencies effectively.

Financial Oversight:
Supervise Corporate Captains' daily activities related to cost control, inspections, and support of vessels, ensuring alignment with company objectives. Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets for the river fleet in cooperation with Corporate Captains and relevant departments.

Performance Evaluation:
Monitor and evaluate vessels' operational performance in collaboration with relevant Corporate Captains. Conduct comprehensive evaluations of officers to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities for career development.

Compliance and Regulation:
Ensure all vessels are managed safely and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Stay abreast of industry developments and proactively implement best practices to maintain our industry-leading position.

Port Operation:
Leading the Port Operation Team in planning Locks and Docks on the European waterways based on the company´s itineraries.
