The group of Dr. Margherita Turco at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) aims to understand the critical events occurring during the early stages of pregnancy in humans by investigating how the human placenta develops and how this process is influenced by the maternal uterine microenvironment.

We are looking for a research technician (100%) to join the Turco laboratory. The team uses a wide range of techniques, from 3D organoid systems to imaging, CRISPR/Cas gene editing and genomic technologies. The role will be centered around generating and maintaining organoid cultures as well as contributing to the research effort of the team and assuring overall efficient running of the laboratory.

**In this role, you will**:

- Coordinate with collaborators for collecting tissue samples from hospitals/clinics.
- Perform cell culture work to generate endometrial and placental organoid cultures from human endometrial biopsies and placental samples.
- Manage the expansion, quality control and storage of organoid cultures.
- Perform experiments and tasks to support research projects.
- Work in coordination with our lab manager to maintain basic lab infrastructure and regularly update lab databases.
- Supervise and train group members involved in lab projects.

**About you**
- You have a Masters or Doctorate Degree in Biology or equivalent, or you have completed education as a lab technician/assistant with several years of experience in a research laboratory.
- You have expertise in human primary tissue culture, stem cell and/or organoid cultures.
- You have expertise in cellular and molecular biology techniques.
- You are reliable, have a strong work ethics and high levels of motivation.
- You are able to use your own initiative and to work both independently and as part of a team.
- You have excellent communication skills and are fluent in English and German.
- You have excellent computer skills.
