International Casualty Unit
Our International Casualty Unit writes Motor, General Liability, Professional Lines and Cyber Treaty business and has a strong and established presence in EMEA, APAC and Latam. High emphasis is put on collaboration with colleagues from other units (eg North American Casualty) and functions (Actuarial, Claims and Finance).
The Role
Responsibilities and duties:
- Underwriting assessment of International Casualty Treaty business (Motor, General Liability, Professional Lines) pursuant to underwriting guidelines
- Negotiating treaty terms and conditions with International clients
- Validating and drafting of wordings
- Managing and validating accuracy of treaty information
- Analyzing of markets and developing of market strategies and business plans
- Monitoring of aggregate commitments specific to the portfolio subsegments
- Company representation and client engagement including regular travel and client visits
- Participation in the collective training of co-workers and promotion of technical skills
Competencies required
Technical Skills:
- University degree and/or at least 5 years of reinsurance underwriting experience
- Competence in measuring exposure and understanding of basic pricing techniques
- Thorough understanding of reinsurance structures and the needs they serve
- Solid understanding of statistics and financial analysis
- Microsoft 365 software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) competence
- Fluency in English, good command in French an advantage
- High rigor and work ethics
- Ability to manage priorities under pressure and time constraints
Inter-personal Skills:
- Clear and demonstrated skills in negotiating with International counterparties
- Ability to foster and maintain client relationships
- Strong team player with ability to know when and how to work with colleagues in order to achieve the Casualty Unit’s objectives
