Employment Type: Full-Time, Live-In

Accommodation: Provided (Private and separate within family estate or staff quarters)
Reports To: House Manager
Start Date: Immediate or by mutual agreement
Position Summary:
The family of the principal is seeking a highly qualified, polished, and discreet Governess to provide exceptional educational guidance, personal development support, and day-to-day care for the children of the household. The Governess will be responsible for ensuring the children’s intellectual, emotional, and cultural development in accordance with both international standards and traditional values.
Key Responsibilities:
**Educational Guidance**
- Deliver daily academic tutoring tailored to the children’s ages and learning needs
- Create personalized curricula based on British, American, or IB systems, in coordination with private tutors and/or international schools.
- Support and prepare children for entrance into elite educational institutions, both local and abroad.
- Foster a love of learning, critical thinking, and multilingual fluency (English is essential; Arabic or French advantageous).
- Maintain a calm, structured environment conducive to focused study and intellectual
curiosity.
**Development & Etiquette Training**
- Teach and reinforce high standards of etiquette, manners, and social protocol aligned with Gulf and international expectations.
- Encourage emotional intelligence, independence, and personal responsibility.
- Plan and supervise cultural outings, museum visits, and enrichment activities aligned with the family's values.
**Daily Routine & Oversight**
- Create and maintain structured daily routines for learning, meals, rest, and recreation.
- Oversee wardrobe planning and grooming for the children, ensuring neat appearance suitable for formal and informal settings.
- Work collaboratively with household staff including nannies, tutors, security, and chefs to ensure a seamless day-to-day environment.
- Travel with the family (domestically and internationally) and ensure educational consistency while abroad.
**Communication & Confidentiality**
- Maintain open, professional communication with Her Excellency and the Chief of Staff.
- Provide regular verbal and written progress reports on educational milestones and behavioral development.
- Uphold the highest level of discretion and confidentiality at all times.
- Respect cultural sensitivities, gender-specific customs, and Islamic values.
**Education & Qualifications**
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Education, Early Years, Child Development, or related field.
- Formal Governess training or certification (e.g., Norland, Montessori, CACHE Level 3 or requivalent) preferred.
- Additional qualifications in child psychology, special education, or elite curriculum
design desirable.
**Experience**
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Governess in a formal UHNWI, royal, or
diplomatic household.
- Proven ability to manage multiple children of different age groups.
- Experience in international travel with families and adaptability to changing schedules.
**Languages**
- Fluent/native English speaker is essential (British English strongly preferred).
- Knowledge of Arabic, French, or other languages is highly advantageous.
**Personal Attributes**
- Impeccable personal presentation and hygiene.
- Discreet, loyal, and highly professional.
- Culturally aware and respectful of Middle Eastern traditions and Islamic values.
- Calm under pressure, highly organized, and solution-oriented.
- Emotionally mature with a nurturing demeanor.
**Other Requirements**
- Valid international passport and ability to travel on short notice.
- Up-to-date Pediatric First Aid & CPR certification.
- Clean enhanced background check (DBS or international equivalent).
- Non-smoker.
- Willingness to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
