**Job Purpose**:
The IB aims to provide the highest standards in curriculum, assessment and services so that worldwide schools who adopt the program are genuine partners in implementing IB’s mission to create a better world through education. Reporting to the Director General, the Deputy Director General (DDG) reports to and partners with the Director General (DG) to achieve the IB’s mission and vision as articulated in the Board-approved strategy. The DDG is part of the IB Executive Team to serve as the implementer and ensure streamlined activities to deliver the DG’s priorities. The DDG deputizes for the DG whenever necessary and is able to take decisions in the DG’s absence. The DDG will provide assistance, support and guidance to Chief Officers in order to ensure the IB’s goals and KPIs are met effectively and efficiently. The DDG is also appointed as chair of relevant funds (e.g. UK Ltd Fund, Covid Fund) as well as of relevant internal staff groups.

**Job Duties**:

- Support the DG to build a strong leadership team by leading collaboratively, establishing rapport, and inspiring trust.
- Provide advice and support, anticipating and averting problems, understanding and adding value to leader’s vision. Lead complex, challenging conversations toward a positive outcome
- Work closely with the DG, executive team and Board of Governors to implement the IB’s goals and support optimal growth targets
- Operating income over 200M
- Major interaction with all the DG, Chief Officers, Board of Governors and heads of functions.

**Skills and expertise required**:

- A strong belief in, and vision for, international education, and the benefits that this can bring to young people, and preferably one with first-hand knowledge of it.
- A highly effective, inspirational leader with the capabilities to work at strategic level and a demonstrated capability of delivering results and ensuring staff buy-in and engagement.
- Relevant experience in leading organizations towards achieving growth and operational excellence.
- Degree level with supplementary post graduate qualifications in any combination of education, business, IT, finance or strategic management.
- International and cross-cultural experience preferably in a matrixed global professional services and/or educational business environment.
