**The Company**:
planetary is SCALING THE NEW PROTEIN REVOLUTION. We are a venture backed food-tech company
with 12 FTE across 3 locations. By building industrial-scale bioprocessing capacity and IP globally we are
enabling a sustainable shift in the food system from livestock to non-animal proteins. To support the
further development of our scientific expertise, planetary is searching for an experienced _mycelium_
- fermentation scientist._

**The Position**:

- Designs and executes experiments on mycelial biomass production processes to maximize key

metrics such as yield, productivity, robustness, and scalability
- Develop and optimize fermentation media, feeding regimes and robust, economical, and scalable

fermentation processes
- Design suitable control systems (PAT) for monitoring and control of the process
- Produce bench-scale quantities of microbial formulations for use in prototyping trials and transfer
- processes to pilot and production levels- Works in close collaboration with the CSO and other upstream groups to assist with strategic
- initiatives and platform development- Search, identify, demonstrate, and implement new processes/ technologies/instruments to
- optimize and automate fermentation workflows- Document all trials & conducted analyses in a well organized electronic lab notebook following
- GDP concepts- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders through PM platform, meetings and written- Mentor and train junior team members

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- BSc with 5+ years, MSc with 2+ years or PhD with experience in biochemical engineering,

biochemistry, microbiology, or a related field, or a comparable combination of experience and
training
- Prior experience in the development and implementation of robust microbial scale-up processes

in liquid fermentation is required (experience with airlift and STR bioreactors a bonus)
- Knowledgeable in systems and best practices for industrial fermentation, sterility assurance,

biomass processing equipment, and process automation
- Flexible working hours with evening and/or weekend work as required by practical work
- Preferred: _Prior fungal fermentation experience for scale-up
