Required Experience· 4+ years’ experience as Cook or similar at a 5-Star hospitality and/or restaurant environment; shipboard experience is an advantage.· Advanced culinary skills and in-depth knowledge about all the sections within the hot and cold kitchen· Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards, with excellent knowledge of all Public Health Policies are required.· Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and productively in a team.· Food handling certification required Role OverviewAs part of our Mississippi Food & Beverage team your job as a Cook is to prepare delicious meals for our Guests and Crew according to the various recipes set out by the Executive Chef· You will be reporting to the Assistant Chef de Partie· You will be expected to work on a 10-12/3-4 rotation (10-12 weeks on board and 3-4 weeks off on vacation). Please note that rotation lenghts vary based on staffing and operational needs onboard Viking MississippiRole Expectations· Prepare dishes at an advanced level, following company recipes and procedures with minimum supervision· Ensure quality and presentation of food during food preparation and service hours· Ensure economical work practices and control food production to minimize wastage· Maintain food preparation and storage standards according to public health policies and company regulations· Provide high level of comfort and service to guests with impeccable cleanliness and hygiene, including wearing appropriate PPE· Enforce “clean as you go” work habits and maintain impeccable cleanliness and hygiene in assigned areas· Always uphold impeccable grooming standards by complying with Viking’s Image and Uniform Standards· Demonstrate outstanding flexibility: able to work at various times of the day, under pressure and always reflect a positive can-do attitude and the best image of Viking· You will be expected to consistently arrive on time and be prepared for work· Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at leaders’ discretion based on operational needsViking was founded in 1997 and provides destination-focused voyages on oceans, rivers and lakes around the world.
