Job DescriptionAs the Trade Compliance Business Intelligence Manager, you will lead our global team ensuring Syngenta Group's agricultural products move seamlessly across international borders while driving systems and process improvements. You'll manage product classification for customs (Harmonized System codes) and controlled substances compliance, working with governments, supply chain teams, and regulatory authorities worldwide. This strategic role combines technical chemistry knowledge with trade law expertise to protect Syngenta's ability to operate globally.Responsibilities include:Lead and manage the Business Intelligence team through high standard and support methodologyGuide team to identify potential risks and control gaps; develop mitigating strategies to minimize riskLead and advise on Harmonized System Classification and Controlled Substances issues globally. Serve as escalation point for complex classification issues or disputesOversee implementation and management of all HS Classification and Controlled Substances responsibilities related to Trade ComplianceLiaise and negotiate with governments and authorities on Customs Classification and Controlled Substances issues in collaboration with Regional Trade Compliance OfficersParticipate as active member of the Global Trade Compliance (GTC) Team to protect Syngenta's trade interests and expand freedom to operate across bordersRepresent Syngenta externally on behalf of Trade ComplianceInform stakeholders about regulatory changes impacting Customs Classification and Controlled SubstancesEnsure HS and CS Codes of Practice and KPIs are aligned with GTC PolicyDevelop and implement corrective action plans for problematic issuesRespond to alleged violations of laws, regulations, and policies by evaluating or recommending investigative proceduresProvide litigation support related to customs classification, conduct case analysis with significant business cost impactSponsor and influence AI/automation projects for classification processesDrive digital transformation of classification systems, working closely with IT on system changes and implementationsManage stakeholder expectations during major IT/system transformation projectsCollaborate with Training center of excellence to ensure relevant HS Classification and Controlled Substances training is provided annuallyAssist in development and preparation of key metrics for senior managementQualificationsDegree in chemistry or chemistry-related science5+ years in Customs/International Trade Operations/Compliance or relevant chemical fieldDemonstrated experience in people managementFluency in EnglishAbility to efficiently collaborate with IT teams on system changes, integrations, and transformation projectsChange management skills for driving adoption of new technologies and processesAbility to work across international boundaries and adapt to changing environmentsExperience working in virtual/remote teamsSome travel requiredAdditional Preferred KnowledgeKnowledge of Customs Classification, Controlled Substances laws and regulations, and international movement of chemical/biological productsUnderstanding of logistics, supply chain operations, and business improvement processesKnowledge of SAP and other relevant systemsAdditional InformationWe offer a variety of financial and non-financial benefits including:A position which contributes to valuable and impactful work in a stimulating and international environmentA superb working environment with an open culture and diverse workforce where new ideas are always welcomeThe opportunity to work with and learn from highly qualified and experienced employees and gain scientific and technical excellenceLearning culture (Together we Grow) and wide range of training optionsYou will benefit from a competitive pension fund plan, attractive bonus system, onsite doctor, fitness room, canteen, and other benefits including Family friendly initiatives, Child and Family allowance.Please send your complete application with your English CV and the copies of your diplomas and work certificates.Syngenta is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in recruitment, hiring, training, promotion or any other employment practices for reasons of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, marital or veteran status, disability, or any other legally protected status.
