This includes brands such as Voltaren, Otrivin, Panadol, Theraflu, Advil, Piriton and Robitussin. Today, OTC products make up 56% of Haleon’s business.The Global Commercial Legal Counsel, OTC, is a key member of the Global Commercial Legal team, which provides dedicated global support to the Global Marketing and R&D organizations of Haleon, a leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of nonprescription healthcare products. In this role, the Global Commercial Legal Counsel will serve as a key attorney for legal issues relating to the OTC global category. Responsibilities include handling a wide range of significant legal issues as they affect various aspects of the category, in particular: advertising/marketing, challenges involving competitors, brand rights, product development, patents, regulatory, compliance, corporate communications, and business transactions. The Global Commercial Legal Counsel will report to, and work closely with, the Global Category Legal Lead, OTC, Trademarks Senior Counsel, OTC and Patents Senior Counsel, OTC, and will have substantial interaction with key leaders throughout the global Haleon business.In addition, this role will have certain above-category responsibilities including providing support to the Global Marketing Services team. This includes advice and support on a wide range of global issues relating to marketing operations matters such as Haleon product website accessibility, marketing governance on global processes such as the content approval process, advice to the global marketing team on evolving AdTech issues, and other digital governance matters. The Global Commercial Legal Counsel will also partner with colleagues in market and throughout the Haleon Legal Compliance & Company Secretariat (LCCS) department to bring broad expertise and support as required to help Haleon accomplish its business objectives.This role is based in Nyon, Switzerland, with expected office attendance 2-3 days per week.Key responsibilitiesSupport the OTC category on legal matters:Strategically partner with the OTC category teams to deliver high-quality legal advice and provide day-to-day legal support, partnering closely with local legal teams and business stakeholders to provide timely, practical solutions.Provide claims support for strategic projects, including attendance at review meetings and managing approvals.Provide practical legal guidance and solutions for local advertising law challenges, balancing risk management with business ambition.Deliver contractual support for OTC-specific matters, ensuring commercial objectives are achieved with robust legal protection.Lead the creation, maintenance, and rollout of toolkits and trackers to drive harmonized, efficient legal support for local lawyers and Global Marketing teams.Monitor changes in legislation relevant to the OTC category and proactively share updates, ensuring business compliance and readiness.Act as the first point of contact for on-the-ground ad hoc legal support for the OTC team in Nyon, working closely with Legal and Paralegal resources.Support Marketing Operations with above-category matters, including legal input for web replatforming, digital transformation initiatives, and standard reviews.Collaborate with the Global Category Legal Lead, OTC to drive consistency in legal approaches across local markets, sharing best practices and lessons learned.Build strong relationships with local legal teams and cross-functional partners, promoting knowledge-sharing and supporting Haleon’s legal community to deliver on category and business priorities.Qualifications and skillsThe successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and attributes:Strong academic background, with law degree from qualified institutionExtensive in-house legal experience in one or more of the following substantive areas: Advertising/Marketing, Commercial Transactions, Consumer Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals and/or Consumer Packaged Goods (science background helpful but not required)Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new legal concepts quickly, proactively identify issues, and succeed in developing solutions in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication skills, including careful listening to facilitate understanding of business needs, and the ability to translate complex legal considerations into practical business adviceTrack record of accountability and sound judgment, including ability and willingness to take ownership of projects, prioritize and resolve issues, and obtain business resultsStrong negotiation and drafting skillsDetail-oriented yet pragmatic approach to problem-solvingHigh energy and motivation to learn new areas, stay current with relevant legal developments, influence leadership, and contribute to the success of the business and the Legal Compliance & Company Secretariat department Job Posting End Date2026-01-27Equal OpportunitiesHaleon are committed to mobilising our purpose in a way that represents the diverse consumers and communities who rely on our brands every day.
