Our Laboratory for Advanced Fibers in St. Gallen pursues application-driven research in the field of polymers and fibers. We work towards a new generation of hernia repair meshes with built-in local drug-delivery strategies to enhance post-surgical outcomes.Your tasksDevelop novel medical liquid-core fibers for drug-loaded hernia repair meshes
Materials development for Med Tech application, involving state-of-the-art synthesis and analytics
Acquisition of research grants and writing of scientific publications
Supervision of students and interns
Collaboration with surgeons, engineers, chemists and fiber technologists
Your profilePh D in polymer science or biomedical engineering
Hands-on experience in hydrogel development, bacteria-materials interaction is a plus
You like to work interdisciplinary and publish your results for the scientific community
Fluency in English, further knowledge of German is a plus
Our offerWe offer an international, highly stimulating research environment with excellent infrastructure for personal and professional development. You will be working at Empa in St. Gallen. The starting date is as soon as possible or upon mutual agreement, and the employment contract is limited to two years.
