Job Description Your responsibilities Within the Beams department (BE) the Controls Electronics and Mechatronics (CEM) group  is responsible for the research, development and operations of a fleet of robotics systems used for inspection, maintenance and repair tasks.Such systems require complex systems engineering to ensure their operation readiness, including aspects from motor configuration, electrical connections, battery status, network configuration, onboard computers, onboard software, the user interface and interfaces between the robot and infrastructure. This position is focused on automation analysis of robotic equipment for the FCC accelerator facility and development of simulations and robotic systems for proof of concept studies. Specifically, you will: Design robotic systems for simulations and proof of concept studies for FCC. Integrate robotic systems in the base line layout of the FCC. Determine the most efficient and cost-effective automation strategy to support the facility's long-term success. Run logistic simulations of robotic systems to understand access, timing and capacity. Support the identification of key robotic equipment across the entire FCC accelerator facility and the entire FCC life cycle, expanding beyond the current focus on the tunnel area during the operational phase. Your profile Skills Excellent background in robotics, including control, kinematics, dynamics, perception, and locomotion and state-of-the-art robotic solutions. Excellent knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and CAD design tools. Experience with FEA. Experience in project management, functional analysis, requirements analysis and application design is a plus. Hands-on experience in the deployment and integration of robotic systems is a plus. Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language. Eligibility criteria: You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State. You have a professional background in Robotic Engineer (or a related field) and have either:a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience; or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before. Additional Information Job closing date: at 23:59h (midnight) CEST. Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
