Job Description We are seeking a proactive Project Safety Support Specialist to support the execution and safety readiness of multiple new projects, including a chemical laboratory for nano-materials and a new beam dump facility. This role will combine project management assistance with safety coordination, ensuring seamless integration of safety protocols throughout all project phases. Work Environment: Combination of office-based and on-site project support. Your responsibilities Support project managers across all phases—from design through commissioning—facilitating coordination of schedules, resources, documentation, and stakeholder communication. Assist safety officers and work package leaders with: Risk assessments related to chemical, nano, and radiological hazards. Implementation and monitoring of safety controls. Preparation of safety documentation (e.g., user requirements, safety files). Provide advice on critical safety elements associated to the target systems elements, such as the production target/dump, shielding and vacuum vessel. Support the design and optimization efforts for a service cell for radioactive waste packaging and highly radioactive target inspection. Support the execution of D/FFMEA studies and processes for the HI-ECN3 project. Support the execution of a nuclear dismantling contract for a large underground structure in the framework of the NA-CONS contract. Provide on-site supervision and contractor coordination as needed. Your profile Demonstrated experience in: Project execution. Safety documentation. Worksite risk management and commissioning activities. Working in complex project environments and safety-critical worksites. Skills: Strong knowledge of chemical and radiological safety standards. Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders. Initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Master's degree in engineering or a related field. Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French. Eligibility criteria: You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State. You have a professional background in Engineering (or a related field) and have either:a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience; or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before. Additional Information Job closing date: at 23:59 CEST. Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
